Bio
AOL staff members outline the service's rapid changes

Heather Perram
As director of special programming for America Online, Heather Perram applies experience gained in the print world.

She began her career writing feature articles, creating newsletters and serving as senior editor of a monthly city magazine in Washington, D.C. She moved to San Francisco to do similar work as the senior editor and then the associate publisher of WHERE San Francisco.

In 1996 she became general manager of new media for WHERE Magazines International, a network of monthly destination magazines for cities in North America and Europe. Her duties included supervising a team of 22 editors in local markets and assisting them in turning print copy into online content and in developing new online content.

When she went to AOL in October 1997, she worked with the content channels to select, write and edit copy for AOL Today, the service's front page. She now manages a staff of programmers, writers and producers and works with channels to develop and produce special offerings.
