The senior editor of American School Board Journal since 1995, Rebecca Jones has won awards for how-to and other articles from the Education Press Association, Education Writers of America and the Society of National Association Publications.
A freelancer since 1978, she has published articles in numerous national publications. She also is the author of 14 children's books, including The President Has Been Shot: True Stories of the Attacks on Ten U.S. Presidents (see www.childrensbookguild.org/rebeccajones.html).
She taught journalism at the University of Maryland University College, College Park, Md., from 1977 to 1993, rising to the rank of professor. She received University College's Teaching Excellence Award in 1992 and the National Universities Continuing Education Association's Outstanding Faculty Award in 1993.
Jones began her writing career as a reporter for The Advocate in Newark, Ohio, and then for WBNS-TV, Columbus.
