Magazine editors need new skills as Web publishing grows
Keith V. Hevenor
Keith Hevenor learned traditional production as a production coordinator for the Christian Science Monitor. In 1989 he became a magazine production manager for Pennwell Publishing and made the transition to desktop publishing and electronic prepress.
Then he drew on his degree in English to add editorial responsibilities on Type World, which became Electronic Publishing. He is now editor of the magazine, which focuses on business and technology issues that influence the publishing, prepress and printing industries.
His responsibilities include a Web site (www.electronic-publishing.com). The online version of Electronic Publishing provides daily international business and industry-related news, current issue articles and access to editorial archives, a calendar of events, classified ads, industry chat and a product guide.
